Former intern and current fellow interview rock legends

A former intern and current fellow are each showing off their journalistic skills and highlighting the exciting interviews that often come with the job by snagging interviews with musicians from Heart and The Beach Boys, respectively.

Michaela Helean, an  intern from the 2022 cohort and current reporter with the Rio Rancho Observer, recently interviewed Nancy Wilson of Heart. Wilson discussed the band’s Royal Flush Tour and upcoming March performance in Rio Rancho.

Elizabeth Secor, a current fellow and reporter for the Albuquerque Journal, recently interviewed Mike Love of The Beach Boys ahead of the band’s stop in New Mexico. Love recounted the band’s origins, as well as Love’s final moments with his cousin and original member Brian Wilson.
